Dr. Spano's Approach to Care
At the heart of Dr. Spano's work is the belief that individuals are interconnected with the people and environments around them. When individuals are supported in caring for themselves in healthier ways, those changes can extend outward and contribute to broader well-being.
In psychotherapy, Dr. Spano works collaboratively to identify patterns that contribute to distress while strengthening skills that support emotional regulation and psychological flexibility. Mindfulness is used in a pragmatic way, with an emphasis on intention-setting to help steady the mind. In the treatment of anxiety, this often involves learning to return to a chosen intention when intrusive thoughts or cognitive intrusions begin to take over, allowing greater presence and ease in daily life. In neuropsychological assessment, this same philosophy guides a thoughtful integration of test data with emotional, developmental, and real-world context. Findings and recommendations are designed to be clear, useful, and directly applicable.
